Dr Hilary Jones opens up about support for Kate Garraway behind the scenes on GMB

Dr Hilary Jones has opened up about supporting co-star Kate Garraway during her incredibly tough year after husband Derek Draper was hospitalised with coronavirus.

The 67-year-old general practitioner said that Kate and her family are going through turmoil due to the pandemic after her beloved husband was rushed to hospital in March last year after contracting the killer virus.

Derek has since been cleared of Covid, but the virus has left extensive damage to his organs.

As Kate tries to navigate through the trials and tribulations of her family life after Derek’s life-changing illness, Dr Hilary has been by her side as a pillar of support.

In times of need, the TV star has been there to offer up advise to Kate and her two children, Darcey, 14, and William, 11.

“Of course, Kate Garraway’s husband has been very poorly, so I’ve been in contact with her quite a bit, and everybody feels very much for her and her family.”
