Dr Hilary issues stark coronavirus warning on Good Morning Britain

Dr Hilary has made many appearances on Good Morning Britain and Lorraine throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

ITV's resident doctor has gone down well with viewers who have praised him over the weeks for his calm and clear voice of reason.

However, on Monday morning's episode of GMB, Dr Hilary warned the nation and urged people not to become complacent, reports Birmingham Live.

Dr Hilary warned today: "We will be living with this disease for some time."

During this morning's show, the TV doctor had his say on reports the social distancing rule could be slashed to one metre in England.

While addressing the media reports, Dr Hilary issued caution in an address to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

The doctor admitted his concern over a lack of social distancing, and warned we will face living with coronavirus for "quite some time" yet.

He said: "We are seeing outbreaks in places - minor hotspots which puts the R rate up - and that is what worries a lot of people.

"I look around and I see people completely disregarding the two metre social distancing rule. Now that may change to one metre tomorrow, according to media reports.

"But people are forgetting when people are with the people they know, the people that they love and trust, there is no social distancing effectively.

"I would not be surprised if we see that plateau continue for some time.

"We will be living with this disease for some time.

"Until we have a vaccine, at least and that is not on the horizon at the moment."
