Dr Hilary answers most common self-isolation questions amid coronavirus outbreak

As coronavirus cases in the UK increase people with symptoms have been urged to self-isolate.

The current advice from the government is to stay at home for seven days if you have a high temperature or a new and continuous cough, even if it's mild.

Public Health Wales has outlined self-isolation guidance on their website, including staying two metres away from other people in your home when possible and sleeping alone.

Many people still have questions, however, especially when it comes to shared bathrooms and washing clothes.

Dr Hilary, who regularly appears on ITV's Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, has shared a self-isolation guide in a bid to answer these common questions.

Appearing on Monday morning's Lorraine, Dr Hilary featured in a segment outlining what to do when it comes to the kitchen, laundry room and bathroom.

He said: "When it comes to eating you should be eating on your own using your own crockery and cutlery, mugs and glasses and then washing them up with hot water and soap or putting them in the dishwasher.

"And then wiping down any hard surfaces that you may have touched with cleaning fluids containing bleach."

When it comes to washing towels and clothes, Dr Hilary revealed the temperature the washing machine needs to be on.

He explained: "Towels and bedding should be regularly washed on a hot wash at a minimum of 60 degrees."

And what about shared bathrooms?

"If you're sharing a bathroom with other people make sure they use if first and you use it last, and make sure afterwards you clean it thoroughly."
