DR Congo striker linked with Nottingham Forest now reportedly catching the eye of Liverpool and Barcelona

Nottingham Forest were said to be eyeing up teenage hotshot Silas Wamangituka back in January – now the in-form striker has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

The Reds were reported to have sent scouts to watch the Paris FC ace in action earlier in the season, with Newcastle United claimed to have done the same.

Wamangituka was apparently already being monitored by a host of teams back then, thanks to an impressive breakthrough season in Ligue 2, and it seems interest in him has only grown.

Claudio Yacob has a future in coaching - but also a future in Nottingham Forest's midfield, says boss

Spanish giants Barcelona and Premier League title contenders Liverpool have now been added to the 19-year-old’s list of admirers, according to Le Parisien.

They add a number of Ligue 1 sides are also following his progress, including Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon and St Etienne – and that his transfer value could now be worth more than 5m euros.

“The most important thing is to do my work here first at Paris FC, the rest we’ll see after,” the forward is quoted as saying.

“I still have to improve in finishing. My goal is to go over at least 10 goals and there are still games for that.”

Wamangituka, who started out at his local team, Olympic Matete in DR Congo, has netted seven goals so far this term, having become a regular starter in the team.

He signed a three-year deal last September after initially impressing on a trainee contract following his move from fellow French club Ales.

“Of course there are very big clubs but we manage all this quietly, without pressure, otherwise we do not sleep at night,” said his agent Olivier Belesi.

“Silas has the potential and the qualities to go higher. That’s why we should not be mistake about the sports project we propose.

“We keep Silas focused on the field.

“The boy is attached to Paris FC. Everyone has integrated him well and helped him to progress. He knows he has a historic rise to go with Paris FC.”
