LUCKNOW: Wearing ‘angvastram’ and sincerely rehearsing each step of getting a medal from the dignitaries on stage, students and teachers of Dr Babasheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) did a dress rehearsal of the university’s ninth convocation ceremony to be held on Thursday.
President Ram Nath Kovind, the chief guest on the occasion, will award medals to six students: two each of graduation, postgraduation and MPhil. Governor Anandiben Patel, chief minister Yogi Adityanath and chancellor Prakash C Bhartunia will also be present at the ceremony.
A total of 1,424 candidates, including 771 boys and 653 girls, will be awarded degrees. As many as 423 students of undergraduate courses will be conferred degrees in which 262 are boys and 161 girls. In PG, 815 candidates will get degrees in which 416 are boys and 399 are girls. A total of 37 MPhil, 131 PhD degrees and 18 diplomas will also be awarded.
“The convocation will be held in three sessions: in the first, the President will confer six medals and in the second, renowned education reformist Sonam Wangchuk will award gold medals to all students who have topped in subjects and courses. In the last session, degrees will be awarded to all candidates online,” said a BBAU official.
