Dr Anthony Fauci has reacted to Brad Pitt‘s Emmy nomination, which came as the result of the actor’s impersonation of the health expert on Saturday Night Live.
Fauci, a leading member of the government’s coronavirus task force, told The Associated Press: “The only thing I can say is it’s somewhat surrealistic.
“I don’t get distracted by that. I really have to focus like a laser beam on the things that I’m responsible for.”
Pitt is up for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in the 2020 Emmys, which will be held on 20 September.
He played Fauci in a remote SNL episode back in April.
“It’s a little bit strange that that’s going on,” Fauci added while speaking to AP.
“...The one thing – for sure, it doesn’t go to my head because I don’t pay much attention to it, because I’m too busy paying attention to what I really need to do on a day to day basis.”
The Emmys will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
This year’s ceremony is expected to be held virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
