Dr Alex George tells worried fans he 'will be OK' after brother's tragic death

Dr Alex George has thanked fans for their support following the tragic death of his younger brother.

The former Love Island star, 30, recently revealed the heartbreaking news that he had "lost [his] beautiful little brother to mental health".

Sharing an update with his social media followers on Thursday, Alex explained that he 'will be OK' in time.

His message came days after Alex revealed that he was going through 'the hardest times [he] could ever have imagined'.

"So many of you are checking in on me so I want to say thank you and let you know I am still going," Alex told his 1.4 million Instagram followers on Thursday.

Alex's message came a week after the medic confirmed that his brother Llŷr had died.

The doctor has been inundated with touching messages from friends and followers after opening up about his family's heartbreak.

Llŷr was 10 years Alex's junior and was looking to follow in the footsteps of his big brother with a future in medicine.

Last Friday, Alex confirmed the news that Llŷr had lost his battle with mental health weeks before he was due to start medical school.

"I can’t believe I am actually writing this post," Alex penned at the time.

"I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health.

"I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

Earlier this week Alex revealed that he was 'grateful' for the support (dralexgeorge/Instagram)

"We are hurting so bad. No words can explain. As a family we are devastated.

"We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy."

Alex shared the post alongside a picture where he embraced his younger brother.
