Dr Alex George shares warning with Love Islanders about quitting jobs after show

Dr Alex George has delivered a warning to the new Love Island contestants as he urged them not to underestimate what life will be like after the show.

The 30-year-old television star, who starred in the ITV show in 2017, had some snippets of advice for the new reality stars and suggested that they shouldn't rush to leave their jobs after appearing in the show.

Speaking to the Express, Alex said that it was important for the cast not to get carried away, and said they needed to 'look after themselves'.

It comes hours before the much-anticipated debut of Love Island 2021 airs on television screens this evening.

Speaking to the publication, Alex said that contestants shouldn't bank on the Love Island experience being just a means to gain a social media following.

“I think go in for the right reasons and don’t underestimate what it can be like coming out," he explained.

“Don’t leave a good job if you can’t go back to it, that would be the one bit of advice I would give to anyone, be sure you can go back to your job.

He added: “I knew I could always go back. With some careers, people don’t feel comfortable going back, that creates problems.”

Later, Alex also pointed that the cast must 'stay grounded' and not get carried away with the stardom they will be propelled to after leaving the reality show.

He went on: "I think its very important to have that grounding, not to get carried away.

While Alex may not have found love on the show, he remained a highly popular contestant when he was on the series and has enjoyed plenty of success after leaving the series.

However, he is also one of a select few islanders that have decided to return to their former careers as opposed to the social media influencer route. He has since been able to use his platform to share lots of informative advice and even started lots of conversations about mental health.

Following the tragic death of his brother Llŷr last year, Alex also launched a campaign in January to get the Government to provide further aid to young people suffering from mental health issues, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

After meeting with PM Boris Johnson to talk about mental health issues earlier this year, Alex was named Youth Mental Health Ambassador.

He now spends a lot of his time educating young people about mental health issues and promoting services and tools available to help them.
