NEW DELHI: The future champions of the country are in the schools, and the Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Society (DPSG Society) which pioneered the movement for scholastic achievements in school education almost 50 years ago, is now focused on promoting sports in Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad and Dehradun by launching the ‘DPSG Cup’ for young talent in these districts.
Billed as the country’s biggest school sports celebration, the ‘DPSG Cup’ will kick-off with 17 tournaments which will be held across 10 pristine venues in these four districts from April 17 to May 1. Sports aficionados in Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad and Dehradun can look forward to non-stop sizzling action, involving their best talent in the under-15 age category in the DPSG Cup.
Each district will host five tournaments – cricket (boys), football and basketball (boys & girls), which are popular sports on school campuses. Around 3,500 participants from 240 schools are likely to participate in the 17 DPSG Cup tournaments in the four districts in the inaugural edition.
The DPSG Cup will recognise not just the winning teams and most valuable players with attractive prizes, but also present a prize purse of Rs 25,000 to the ‘Best Coach’ of all the 17 tournaments. The matches will be LIVE on social media to celebrate the ‘young sports champions’ of the four “boom towns” of the country.
On this occasion, Mr Anshul Pathak, DPSG Society’s Vice Chairman, said, “On behalf of the Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Society, I am immensely proud that our schools have set the standard for achievements in scholastics and foundational domains like sports and arts in the country. We are committed to providing the best of education, technology, and innovative practices for the bright future of our young people.”
“The DPSG Cup is part of our vision to offer a lifetime experience in the field of sports to the aspiring youth in Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad and Dehradun. My colleagues and I look forward to welcoming our esteemed guests, consisting of participants and coaches, in our campuses in the four districts for the DPSG Cup. I also take this opportunity to convey my best wishes to the participants, coaches, and the principals of the participating schools for a marvellous outing in the DPSG Cup.”
