Dozens of train services in Wales cancelled on Sunday due to Storm Ciara

Transport for Wales has cancelled a number of services on Sunday due to Storm Ciara.

The powerful system is expected to move over the UK beginning on Saturday evening, bringing 85mph gale-force winds and torrential rain.

A yellow weather warning is in place for Wales starting at 12am on Sunday and lasting until midnight.

Now Transport for Wales has issued a list of services that will not operate on Sunday due to the  expected stormy conditions, high tides, and winds.

This weather warning is in place on Sunday (Met Office)

No replacement road transport will be available for affected routes.

The following lines will not have a TfW service operating on Sunday:

Wales & Cross Borders

Heart of Wales

Cambrian Line (west of Shrewsbury)

Shrewsbury-Birmingham International (West Midlands Trains hourly service still running)

West of Llandudno Junction to Holyhead

Llandudno Town – Llandudno

Lines west of Swansea

Barry to Bridgend via Vale of Glamorgan

Blaenau Branch

Ebbw Vale Branch

Maesteg Branch

Core Valley Lines

Rhymney Valley (Already closed due to pre-planned engineering works)

Treherbert: No services north of Pontypridd

Merthyr: No services north of Pontypridd

Aberdare: No services north of Pontypridd

Service Alterations

Marches line services to and from Manchester will start and terminate at Crewe. Other services between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly are available.

The weather warning is also likely to affect Wales fans visiting Ireland this weekend.
