Dozens of sheep invade quiet estate - and panicked residents call police

Panicked suburban residents called 999 after they noticed a flock of sheep maraud through their quiet cul-de-sac.

The animals were spotted chewing lawns and trampling residents' flower beds on Tuesday.

It is thought the 30 sheep broke out of a nearby farm in sleepy Southam, Warwickshire, where house prices average £375,000.

And police were scrambled to help the farmer move them on.

Caroline Top, 40, saw the sheep trot down her cul-de-sac and took photos.

She said: "The sheep had a little adventure.

"They were not interested in the flowers in our front gardens, they just wanted to munch on the grass.

"They were very nice, lovely sheep.

"I was having breakfast and could see sheep along the hedge in the field at the back of the house, which never has animals in it.

"I thought 'I'm going to see where they are going'."

Other photos have emerged on social media showing the farmer assisted by officials in trying to round up his flock.

Ms Top continued: "They came all the way round to the front of the estate.

"They came from another place where there are 180 sheep. About 30 came round to our road.

"We called the police. We didn't want to get too close. The farmer got in touch and said not to get too close to them.

"They would get panicky and run away.

"The farmer came to pick them up."

Warwickshire Police confirmed the force had attended to aid the recovery.
