The Victorian government will install dozens of new speed cameras at dangerous intersections and on the state's freeways.
More than 30 new speed and red light cameras will be installed, along with two new networks of cameras on freeways to stop people speeding.
The measures are part of a $385 million Road Safety Action Plan funded in the recent state budget, which will target dangerous drivers and specific groups such as motorcyclists, and include measures to protect pedestrians, and elderly people.
The government has flagged increased penalties for drink and drug driving offences as part of the plan, along with $40 million to be spent on supervisors at school crossings over the next two years.
"This plan will help us tackle the root causes of road trauma - identifying dangerous repeat offenders early and making sure we protect our most vulnerable road users," Roads Minister Ben Carroll said on Sunday.
92 people have died on the state's roads so far in 2021.
