Dozens of homes in Formby left without electricity for hours

Dozens of homes have been left without power today, after building works disrupted a main power cable.

A number of people living in Formby lost all electricity at around 11am today (Monday).

SP Energy Networks confirmed the power cut on its website, saying: "There is a power cut in the L37 postcode area of Liverpool, affecting properties in Old Town Lane, Freshfield Road, Rymers Green and surrounding streets.

"We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 11:01am.

"Our engineers have arrived on site and are investigating the cause of the fault.

"Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 2:15pm. We will update this message if this information changes. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

The following postcodes are believed to be affected: L371LE, L373HJ, L373HP, L373HR, L373HS, L373HT, L373HW, L373JN, L373NU, L373NZ, L373PE, L373PU, L373QL, L377AQ, L377BD, L377BG, L377BL, L377BN, L377BQ, L377BW, L377DE, L377DF, L377DG, L377DH, L377DJ, L377DN, L377DP, L377DW, L377FD, L377HR, L377HS

An engineer at the scene told one woman a main power cable had been struck while some works were being undertaken nearby.
