Dozens of ex-Giants enter 2019 XFL Draft pool

The returning XFL will hold their 2019 Draft between October 15-16 and over 600 players have entered the draft pool, including dozens of former members of the New York Giants.

Of the ex-Giants to make the jump to the XFL, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is the most noteworthy, having previously won a Super Bowl title with Big Blue and eclipsed 1,000 yards on two separate occasions during his NFL career.

Here’s a quick rundown of the other former Giants entering the XFL Draft pool:

  • P Ryan Anderson
  • OL Jessamen Dunker
  • RB Jhurell Pressley
  • S Will Hill
  • RB Akeem Hunt
  • WR K. J. Maye
  • P Austin Rehkow
  • DT Kristjan Sokoli
  • QB Eric Dungey
  • OL Damien Mama
  • TE Adrien Robinson
  • WR Terrell Sinkfield
  • DE Devin Taylor
  • P Brad Wing
  • OL Malcolm Bunche
  • WR Quadree Henderson
  • DE Alex Jenkins
  • WR TJ Jones
  • OT Matt McCants
  • DT Jarron Jones
  • C James O’Hagan
  • S Rahim Moore
  • TE Jake Powell
  • RB Austin Walter
  • RB Andre Williams
  • DT Nikita Whitlock
  • DE Jake Ceresna
  • RB Donnel Pumphrey
  • WR Alonzo Russell
  • RB Shane Smith

The names that leap off the screen are, of course, Will Hill, Adrien Robinson, Brad Wing, Andre Williams, Nikita Whitlock and Alonzo Russell, all for obvious reasons.

Meanwhile, the Giants only just released running back Austin Walter and worked out Akeem Hunt, who originally signed with them as an undrafted rookie in 2015.

Russell was a gem for the Giants this preseason, but was ultimately the odd man out early on.

Interestingly, although wide receiver TJ Jones is listed in the draft pool, he tweeted that he has no interested and is working his way back to the NFL after two stops with the Giants this year.

Perhaps most surprising of all? Defensive lineman Damontre Moore is not among the 600 players listed in the XFL Draft pool.
