Dozens of brides left shocked after Dublin wedding dress shop suddenly closes without warning

Dozens of brides have been left shocked after a north Dublin bridal shop suddenly closed after accumulating debt.

The Bridal Corner, located at Hart's Corner in Glasnevin, has announced it won't be opening it's doors again having been shut for the past week.

A number of concerned brides to be have been left with no news on their dresses with some due to be married in the coming weeks.

One shocked bride only found out about the closure a week before her ceremony, Dublin Live reports.

The store says that they will refund all customers affected but says that it will "take some time".

In a statement, the shop said brides who are getting married before Christmas will be contacted over the next few days.

"It is with great regret that the shop was forced to close last week due to accumulating debt, and we would like to apologise for the distress and confusion this has caused to some of our customers," they said.

"The owner has been trying to raise funds to keep the business afloat but that process has proved to be quite difficult.

"It is the intention of the owner to refund all deposits to brides for dresses that the Bridal Corner cannot provide but that will take some time.

"We will be making contact with all brides that are affected that have weddings before Christmas over the next few days."

Stepping in to help

After hearing the news, one bridal store in Meath has stepped up and offered to try and help any couples affected by the closure.

Timeless Bridalwear in Trim say they use many of the same designers as the Glasnevin shop and are offering them at a reduced price.

They said: "Ladies if you know anybody affected by or if you had your dress on order with The Bridal Corner in Glasnevin, please spread the word that we are here to help in any way we can.

"We have many same designer dresses that the Bridal Corner stocked, that are up to 70% off their regular price with us.

"We are offering a further 10% Off these gowns to any affected ladies meaning some of last season Essense of Australia/Stella York & this season's Pronovias are down to €600/€700.

"Wedding planning is stressful enough without being robbed of your wedding dress.

"If anyone needs any advice or help, we are here for you x."
