Actor Jim Carter has confirmed that the Downton Abbey cast have already read the script for the second film.
Earlier this year, Julian Fellowes confirmed that he would begin writing the sequel in 2020.
Appearing on This Morning today, Jim, who plays Mr Carson, opened up about the exciting news of the sequel.
Excited Holly Willoughby, who is a big fan of the show, probed him about the second film after the first' ones big success.
Jim replied: "Holly, if you promise not to tell anyone, I will let you know that we've seen a script.
"It's very funny, it's got all the same characters in it, all the regular characters. I think the will is - Covid willing - we will film it next year."
He added jokingly: "I don't know whether I can trust Phillip to keep this secret but Holly, I know you can trust you.
Stunned, Phil responded: "What a thing to say! What an exclusive! So you've seen the script, everyone's in it.
"In the last one, Violet [Maggie Smith] was not very well - "
Jim interjected: "I'm not going to give anything away about plot lines!"
"Nice try though, Schofe," Holly laughed.
Phil began to try and probe some more but the actor's screen froze, leaving them devastated that they couldn't continue the interview.
"I think he's just hung up," Holly laughed.
