On Monday evening, the stars of the highly-anticipated Downton Abbey spin-off film descended upon Leicester Square for the period drama’s world premiere.
Four years after the final episode of the popular ITV television show aired at Christmas, actors including Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Elizabeth McGovern and Hugh Bonneville have returned to depict members of the upper crust Crawley household in the year 1927.
In honour of the upcoming release of the film – on Friday 13 September in the UK – the actors put on a glamorous display at the film’s premiere in the capital, Dockery in a stunning, one-shoulder, floor-length, glittering, gold gown by fashion label Galvan London.
Philanthropist and television presenter Katie Piper was also in attendance at the event, looking regal in a white, backless gown by Ted Baker and wearing her hair in a sleek, high ponytail.

Last month, it was reported that Downton Abbey had sold more advance tickets on its first day of sales in the US than any other drama film in 2019.
Ticketing company Fandango said it was “pretty significant to see a drama performing this well in its first day of sales”.
Erik Davis, managing editor of Fandango, told Fox Business that the Downton Abbey film was outselling Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the 2018 musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in their first full days of advance ticket sales on the website.
