Downpours hit Greater Manchester with the wet weather expected to last through the night

Steady rain looks likely to continue into the night after downpours across Greater Manchester on Saturday.

The North West Motorway Police warned motorists to “slow down” in the wet weather as they worked to deal with a number of road traffic collisions.

The rain fell for much of the day in Manchester, including in the city centre.

Those who ventured into town a day after Tier 3 restrictions were imposed across the region wore raincoats and donned umbrellas to shield themselves from persistent showers.
