Download Pilot paves the way to bring back all in-person events, says booker

Andy Copping, who books the acts for Download Festivals, said this year's event had gone better than he could have imagined and the bands and fans had been "amazing".

He praised fans for their behaviour and said they had played their part in helping to bring back festivals and events to Britain, as the Download Pilot was able to go ahead as part of a Government test.

He said: "It's not just music that is under the spotlight here in the fight against Covid, it's for all events in theatres, cinemas and sport that we have been running this pilot event.

"It's not often that a rock festival gets such publicity and exposure as this one has had but I am happy that it has been successful.

"And to those who missed it because they couldn't get tickets, I am sorry but I look forward to everyone being back here at normal Download in 2022."
