To serve this country as Prime Minister should be an honour.
This is clearly an alien concept to Boris Johnson who every day he is in power brings more disgrace on this highest of offices.
His sense of entitlement is such he spent a reported £112,000 on refurbishing the No10 flat and expected someone else to foot the bill.
This extravagant expenditure came on top of the taxpayer-funded £30,000 grant he gets each year towards its upkeep.
It would never have crossed his mind how insulting it would look to spend £840 on a single roll of wallpaper while cutting £20 in welfare support from the poorest households.

The Prime Minister is also accused of misleading his own ethics adviser about who paid.
If he cannot be straight with his own standards chief then how can he be trusted to be honest with the British people or, for that matter, the Cabinet Secretary conducting the inquiry into Christmas parties held in No10?
At one time a Prime Minister who was caught lying in this way would have had the dignity to consider their position.
Mr Johnson laughs at such conventions and, in the process, laughs at the rest of us.
