Douglas Park shows Rangers unity as chairman backs up Steven Gerrard during tense Slavia showdown talks

It was a night to forget for Rangers on the pitch but Steven Gerrard will do everything in his power to keep the alleged comments aimed at Glen Kamara in the spotlight.

The Ibrox boss was incensed at the final whistle and insists he will back the Finland international to the hilt after he claimed he was racially abused by Slavia Prague star Ondrej Kudela.

Counter accusations followed from the Czech camp but Gerrard will be desperate for the message that racism is never acceptable in the world of football.

The Liverpool icon was locked in talks with Slavia boss Jindřich Trpišovský and a delegation from Slavia at the final whistle.

But Gerrard wasn't alone as he was joined on the Ibrox touchline by sporting director Ross Wilson and Rangers chairman Douglas Park, who were right behind their boss.

And the 40-year-old's comments at the final whistle show a man who will support Kamara all the way.

He said: "It doesn't make sense to go up to someone during a game, cover your mouth and shout something down someone's ear when the game is almost done.

"Out the blue, to do something like that... this is not the type of person who would react in that way. Glen's a quiet kid, he's someone who I trust immensely, he's calm, he's trustworthy.

"I trust Glen Kamara like one of my own kids, that's how strongly I feel about the situation.

"And I will, I'll back him like one of my own as well."
