Douglas Park scores Rangers victory in bitter battle with the SPFL over cinch as Ibrox chief's appeal upheld

Rangers chairman Douglas Park has scored another victory as part of the club’s bitter dispute over an £8million league sponsorship deal.

Record Sport understands a court has upheld the Ibrox chief’s appeal against a decision to keep him locked out of an SFA arbitration into the ongoing wrangle between his club and the SPFL over the tie up with online used car retailer cinch.

And the latest legal win on Wednesday means Park – who had taken out an interim interdict to prevent the proceedings from going on without his presence back in August – will now be entitled to take part when the Hampden hearing continues.

Rangers are refusing to promote the £8m deal and have not displayed any cinch branding on players’ shirts, or on any advertising hoardings or media boards since the start of the new campaign.

The club claim the SPFL ‘s rule 17 means they are not obliged to promote the sponsorship because they have a pre-existing contract with Park’s second-hand car dealership.

The SPFL referred the dispute to the SFA earlier in August and an arbitration case was set to proceed until Park went to court to have it delayed.

No date has yet been set for the beginning of the arbitration.
