Dougie Imrie set for Morton job as Livingston coach set to take on Championship relegation scrap

Struggling Morton are set to name Dougie Imrie as their new manager.

The rock-bottom Championship outfit has identified the Livingston first-team coach as the man they want to succeed Gus MacPherson.

The Cappielow side hope to finalise the move with Livi over the next 24 hours.

Imrie has previously coached at Hamilton Accies after he finished his playing career.

The 38-year-old’s first game in charge is likely to be on Boxing Day against fellow strugglers Queen of the South.

Imrie had a spell at Morton as a player in the 2013-14 season.

Morton have been looking for a new manager since MacPherson was put on gardening leave after the 2-2 draw with Ayr United earlier this month.

They will be looking for Imrie to try and keep the ‘Ton up, as they are currently two points behind the eighth-placed Honest Men.

Ayr have also dismissed their manager this month after Jim Duffy departed Somerset Park after just three months at the helm.
