Doughnotts to open in West Bridgford this week with freebies for first customers

Nottingham's homegrown doughnut company is set to open its latest shop packed with sweet treats in West Bridgford. It will be Doughnotts' fourth shop in the county and ninth in total.

Big fluffy doughnuts, available in all the flavours on the June menu, will be on sale from the new store in Gordon Road. That means Nutella Custard, Weekend Billionaire and Intergalactic and vegan varieties Apple Pie, Cherry Bakewell and Eton Mess.

The shop will open its doors at 9am on Friday June 9 with a special treat in store for dedicated fans. The first 50 customers will receive a free salted caramel doughnut. The perfect accompaniment will come in the way of 200 Degrees Coffee.

Doughnotts has come a long way since it was created in 2015. Co-directors Wade Smith and Megan Scaddan decided to make some doughnuts in the kitchen of Megan's mum using a tenner and a wok. Before they knew it they had a micro bakery on their hands, delivering to sweet-toothed customers via Facebook.

Eight years on the company has shops in Nottingham city centre, Beeston, and a kiosk at Giltbrook Retail Park. Outside Nottinghamshire there are stores in Leicester, Lincoln and Birmingham and kiosks at East and West Midlands Designer Outlets. All the hand-finished doughnuts are made at a factory on Queens Drive Industrial Estate.

Doughnotts is the latest foodie outlet to open in the town, hot on the heels of the Bombay Sweet Shop, also in Gordon Road. Nottingham coffee chain 200 Degrees will be coming next - opening at the end of July in the Central Avenue premises left by Oliver Bonas, when the retailer moved to another location across the road.
