Doughnotts reveals move to new Nottingham location - and it will be disability and pushchair friendly

Nottingham success story Doughnotts has revealed it's on the move - and the new shop will be bigger and have access for disabled people and pushchairs.

But it won't be moving a million miles away as the new location is just around the corner in King Street, in the former home of The Hideout cafe.

With the lease at Long Row due to expire soon, owners Wade Smith and Megan Scaddan began searching for new premises a few months ago.

The Hideout opened in December 2017, offering posh breakfasts and lunches but closed just seven months later after a number of issues made the business unviable.

There are no steps into the property - unlike Long Row, where the staircase makes it impossible for people with prams, pushchairs and disabilities to access.

Downstairs has a counter and seating area and there's a mezzanine level, which the owners have exciting plans for.

Megan said: "We decided to move stores because although our current store has been the making of us it was and what we could afford at the time, the lease is coming up we decided it’s time to get a bigger store.

"There will be more seating, disability and pushchair access and more space for the customers. We also have an upstairs to put on different events like children’s decorating classes."

The couple, who found out yesterday that they can't extend the lease in Long Row, now have to fast-track the whole operation.

"We have to get in to measure up, build our counters and get everyone to move jobs around to help us turn this around in three to four weeks," added Megan.

Doughnotts fans can't wait and flooded the company's Instagram announcement with good luck messages. Jess Goodridge said: "Ooh this is exciting."

Blue Yellow Lily wrote: "I can go again - I can get the pushchair in there."
