Trevor Lawrence has never lost a game on a Saturday. At least, that’s what the streets are saying.
I’m not going to take the time to dig into the archives and verify it, but the word is Lawrence is 37-0 in Saturday games since high school. That includes last weekend’s miraculous comeback win over the Chargers after Lawrence’s four first-half interceptions threatened to doom the years-long streak.
If you need a reason to believe beyond the X’s and O’s for why the Jacksonville Jaguars can beat the Super Bowl favorite Kansas City Chiefs as 8.5-point road dogs in the divisional round of the play, this is the one.
Just don’t ask Jaguars coach Doug Pederson about it.
Doug Pederson DOES NOT want to hear about Trevor Lawrence being undefeated on Saturdays 😅🤣 pic.twitter.com/KyGS48AyUR

“Yeah, la la. Next question.”
Pederson wanted no part of that conversation, and as funny as his dismissal of the question was, it’s really understandable.
Talking about Lawrence’s streak only threatens to jinx it. Or worse, diminish the preparation necessary to make such a streak possible. Luck on their side or not, the Jaguars still have to prepare for and play a juggernaut. If they aren’t ready, they’ll get their doors blown off. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid don’t care about a silly streak.
Pederson knows that. So he’s happy to let us talk about the streak while he devises up a gameplan to give Lawrence a chance to get to 38-0 on Saturday and make it to another Waffle House.
