It’s always best to take time and reflect before speaking on emotional subjects, and after taking about 60 days to process his firing, Doug Pederson is ready to vent.
Pederson isn’t dwelling on his firing and during a recent sitdown with John Clark on his Takeoff podcast, the former Eagles head coach still reflects positively on the organization despite his departure following a 4-11-1 season.
“It’s water under the bridge,” Pederson said (via NBC Sports Philadelphia).
Pederson was fired three years after leading the Eagles to their first Super Bowl win and he told Clark that he would rather focus on the positives of his tenure rather than complaining about how it ended.
“I’m going out on top,” Pederson said. “I’m going out as a Super Bowl-winning head coach in Philadelphia. Hopefully, I’ll be welcomed back in the city one day, whether I’m coaching on the other sideline or just coming back to visit. I look forward to those moments.”
Pederson went on to discuss his relationship with Carson Wentz and it sounds like he’ll take the year to support his draft-eligible son, who could be on the Eagles’ radar as a tight end.
