Doug Middleton, Ben Braden sign exclusive rights tenders

The Jets have inked two more players to exclusive rights tenders.

The team announced Friday that both safety Doug Middleton and offensive lineman Ben Braden signed their exclusive rights tenders.

On Thursday, Davis Webb, Deontay Burnett, and Jeremy Clark signed their exclusive rights tenders as well.

Middleton was signed by the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State in 2016. He was on the Jets practice squad for most of his rookie season, but did appear in four games. Middleton had six combined tackles to go along with one pass defense. Middleton missed all of the 2017 season with a torn pectoral.

In 2018, Middleton started seven games due to Marcus Maye being injured. But Middleton’s season was cut short because he tore his pectoral muscle again. He finished with 27 tackles and three pass defenses.

As for Braden, he was also signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Michigan. He spent his entire rookie season on the Jets’ practice squad before signing a futures contract for the 2018 season. Initially, Braden made the 53-man roster, but he was waived and signed back to the practice squad. Braden was promoted to the active roster in November and appeared in two games.
