Doug Marrone says he’s expecting Quincy Williams back for the first regular season game

The Jacksonville Jaguars received some bad news when it was announce that weak-side linebacker Quincy Williams would miss four to six weeks with a slight meniscus tear. However, there does seem to be some positive to come out of the situation as coach Doug Marrone announced that he expects Williams to be back before Week 1 on his radio show.

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Williams will need arthroscopic surgery to trim the meniscus tear, which is a procedure that is somewhat common in football.

Marrone also said that the injury was one that the injury was one that didn’t necessarily happen Thursday, but was one that occurred in the past and continued to linger. After all, that would make sense because while the Jags haven’t been having spa day’s, they’ve dialed the physicality back and haven’t had a lot of padded practices yet.

Williams had gotten off to a solid start this summer, impressing in organized team activities and training camp. It looked as though he was the leading the way to land Telvin Smith’s old spot as starting weak-side linebacker, however, it will now be Ramik Wilson, D.J. Alexander and others to hold it down as he works towards a return.
