Doug Marrone says he hasn’t made decision on whether Nick Foles will play vs. Ravens

The Jacksonville Jaguars are two days away from their first preseason game, which will take place against the Baltimore Ravens, who they’re currently holding joint practices with in Maryland. And while the game serves mostly as a chance for the bubble players to make a statement, it also provides fans with a chance to see some of the new veterans briefly take the field, too.

Without a doubt, the veteran who Jags fans will be the most excited to watch is quarterback Nick Foles, who has been nothing short of impressive since signing this offseason. However, head coach Doug Marrone told the media that he hasn’t decided on whether Foles will play and will likely wait until Wednesday night to make the call.

Of course, the reason is that injuries can’t be accounted for until before the game. He also added that he doesn’t like for his staff to look too far in advance because it could distract them from their daily tasks to get the team ready.

If Foles takes the field Thursday, one would think it would be for no more than a series, and the same could apply to the rest of the starters. When looking at his history with injuries, the absence of left tackle Cam Robinson and how well Foles has performed during practice, it wouldn’t hurt to put his debut off until next week — when his last team, the Philadelphia Eagles, come to town.
