Now that Russell Wilson’s contract is in the bag, Frank Clark has been shipped to Kansas City, and the draft is complete, Seattle Seahawks fans are turning their attention to star receiver Doug Baldwin – who may have played his final snap in the NFL.
Baldwin is clearly aware his potential retirement, a story first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and later confirmed by the Seahawks, is on everyone’s mind.
So he decided to have some fun with it.
On Sunday afternoon, Baldwin tweeted the following:
After an excruciating two-minute wait, fans who were expecting a retirement announcement were instead treated to his take on how popular HBO show Game of Thrones – which has been running for eight seasons – is going to end.
Baldwin’s tongue-in-cheek Twitter tease aside, it certainly sounds like an announcement about his NFL future is coming soon.
“I would say weeks,” general manager John Schneider commented Friday when asked what the timeline looks like for Baldwin’s decision. Schneider and Carroll made it clear if (when?) an announcement comes out, it will be from Baldwin himself.
So fans, make sure to check Baldwin’s Twitter account but be aware you may actually be reading Game of Thrones takes instead.
