Doug Baldwin pens heartfelt goodbye in letter to himself on Twitter

The Seattle Seahawks announced last week they were releasing star wide receiver Doug Baldwin and safety Kam Chancellor, both with the failed-physical designation.

Baldwin played in 13 games last season, but after trio of offseason surgeries, it is expected that he will retire from the NFL.

While he never used the word “retirement,” Baldwin wrote an incredibly heartfelt letter to himself, composed in a series of tweets late Sunday evening, that all but solidified that he has played his final NFL snap.

Here is Baldwin’s letter:

It may not be quite as colorful as Marshawn Lynch’s famous tweet of cleats hanging from a wire, but Baldwin’s use of a “Game of Thrones” GIF is a great way for him to cap off his career.

After all, both Baldwin and Game of Thrones got started eight years ago, and Baldwin even hinted at retirement a few weeks ago on his Twitter account, before revealing a Game of Thrones theory instead.
