Doubts remain over top Ireland stars as Joey Carbery and Robbie Henshaw ruled out of Australia clash

Joey Carbery and Robbie Henshaw are the only Ireland squad members as yet ruled out for the final Autumn series clash with Australia on Saturday.

Munster out-half Carbery failed to return from a HIA during last Saturday's victory over Fiji and will complete his return to play protocols with his province, while Henshaw suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury early in the same game and has returned to Leinster to continue his rehab.

Carbery's absence means that Jack Crowley, who made his Test debut last weekend, is expected to at least make the bench for the fixture against the Wallabies at the Aviva Stadium (8pm kick-off).

Skipper Johnny Sexton suffered a dead leg in the defeat of South Africa the previous weekend and is among a number of players who will be "monitored during the week," according to an IRFU update, "and re-integrated into training according to their individual management plans".

Those other players on the doubtful list are all Leinster colleagues of Sexton - current player of the year Josh van der Flier, Hugo Keenan, Andrew Porter and James Ryan.

Bundee Aki is back involved this week after his lengthy suspension, his participation in the coaching intervention programme for tackle technique shortening his ban by a week, while Iain Henderson could have his first involvement in the series having trained last week on his return from injury.

Jimmy O'Brien will also return to training tomorrow after completing his return to play protocols, while Joe McCarthy returns to the squad after completing his protocols, but Ryan Baird remains absent
