'Double that!' — Swansea City fans demand Tottenham pay more than £18m for 'best centre-half outside Premier League' Joe Rodon

Swansea City fans have demanded Tottenham increase their reported valuation of £18m for Wales international Joe Rodon.

It emerged on transfer deadline day - the first of two this month, to be precise - Wales international Rodon had become a serious target for Spurs, who is reportedly valued between £18m and £20m by the Swans.

West Ham are also thought to have an interested in signing the centre-back, who is widely regarded as one of the best central defenders in the Championship.

While the international transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday, October 5, Premier League clubs are able to trade with Championship and other EFL clubs until October 16.

However, if Spurs want Rodon to be included in their Europa League squad, they will have to register him by 11pm on Tuesday evening, giving this deal quite the shove-along.

But Swans fans have urged their club not to be bullied into lowering their asking price, with many supporters urging patience about selling a 22-year-old who is likely to enjoy a top career at the upper end of the English football pyramid.

"Surely at this point in the window he's worth more than that, if we're serious about this season he has to stay," David weighed in.

"They need to double that £18 million," Swans fan Nick said.

While Craig Edwards said: "Is it just me or does it feel like 20 million is still way off the mark? I feel he’s worth more to Swansea than 20 million."

It is clear Swans fans rate their academy product extremely highly, and rightly so, and while they might be resigned to the face he has his sights set on Premier League football, they at least want to see value for money.

This proposed deal, it feels, has a long way to run just yet and is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
