LUCKNOW: With over 11,000 more people completing the two-dose vaccine course against Covid-19 on Tuesday, nearly one-third of the total adult population of Lucknow is now fully vaccinated against the disease.
Of the total 27,770 people jabbed on Tuesday, 59% (16,379) took the first Covid dose and 41% (11,391) the second. This took the number of beneficiaries who have taken both doses given 8-16 weeks apart to 11.8 lakh. This is almost one-third (33%) of the total 36 lakh adult population of the district.
The figure of those partially vaccinated with a dose rose to 16 lakh, which is 44% of the total population. These people will get their second dose after completing the gap period. It has taken nine months to reach this stage after the start of the mass immunisation drive on January 16. In this period, total 39.6 lakh doses were administered across the district.
At present, Lucknow is leading in Covid vaccinations in comparison to other districts of the state.
Chief medical officer Dr Manoj Agrawal said that the health department has identified 1.1 lakh singledose beneficiaries who missed their second shot schedule. “All these people will be contacted on phone by the Integrated Covid Command and Control Centre and urged to take their second dose at the earliest,” he said.
“Our call operators will inform people about vaccination centres nearest to their houses and help them in rescheduling their second dose inoculation,” he added.
Among Tuesday’s beneficiaries, 75% were in the 18-44 years age group followed by 16.6% in the 45-59 years category and 7.6 % elderly aged 60 years or above. The rest were healthcare and frontline workers.
