Double Paralympic champion who had gold medals stolen targeted by thieves again - this time for her car while she was asleep

A double Paralympic champion who had two of her medals stolen has fallen victim to car thieves.

In June 2017, Kadeena Cox MBE had two IPC Athletics World Championships gold medals taken from her car, which was parked outside her home in Prestwich.

Now she has been targeted again - for her black Jaguar.

Writing on Twitter she said: "Last night 2 vile guys broke into my house while I was asleep, stole my keys, and my car from Prestwich. It's a black Jaguar E pace."

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Kadeena, 28, said: "I got the car back.

"It was recovered in Radcliffe. It has a tracker on it and the police found it. The two people who took it were caught on CCTV. It was probably a good thing I was asleep.

"I got my medals back as well - they were handed in anonymously at a police station.

"Thankfully, there was no damage to my car. I think they took it then parked it up to see if anyone came for it as they may have suspected it had a tracking device on it."

She later tweeted: "Thankfully, my car was recovered with no damage. Just annoyed I'm gonna end up £1,000 out of pocket to get my keys reprogrammed."

Kadeena won the medals that were stolen in the T37 women’s 100m and T35-38 4x100m relay at the 2015 World Championships in Doha.

In Rio in 2016, Kadeena, who had a stroke aged 23 and was later diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, became the first Briton to win a gold medal in two sports at the same Paralympics - athletics and cycling - since 1988.

She also took silver in the 4x100m relay and bronze in the 100m and was picked to be Britain’s flagbearer at the closing ceremony.

The Sale Harrier will be competing for Great Britain in the Dubai World Para Athletics Championship which kicks off on November 7.

Kadeena, who studied physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University, will line up for the T38 200m and 400m.
