Double murder in UP: Woman, lover killed in Agra; husband among 3 arrested

AGRA: A married woman and her lover were allegedly bludgeoned to death by the former’s family members in Susheel Nagar area under Etmadulla police jurisdiction in UP's Agra on Friday.

Three suspects, including the woman’s husband, have been arrested by police.

This is the second double murder in Agra region in the last 24 hours.

Police said that Shivam Sisodiya (21) was allegedly in an illicit relationship with his relative, Pooja (28), who was married to Guarav.

He had gone to meet her on Friday afternoon around 2pm, when Guarav and his family members saw them together.

They allegedly started beating them with sticks and victims tried to run away but were caught.

After beating them, the suspects allegedly slit their throats with a sharp-edged weapon.

The woman's father-in-law Madan Singh Sisodiya and brother-in-law Abhishek reached the police station on their own and narrated the incident.

Guarav, who is involved in making silver anklets, was arrested from home.

The couple has a five-year-old child.

Senior superintendent of police Sudhir Kumar Singh said that the woman had got married more than seven years ago and Shivam was her close relative.

He said their bodies have been sent for post-mortem and legal action is being taken into the matter.

The weapon used for killing the victims has also been recovered from the spot.

Earlier, on Thursday night, an eight-year-old boy Girvanshu and his mother Shikha Verma (36) were allegedly stabbed to death by their relatives in the neighbouring district of Aligarh in Surendra nagar under Kwarsi police jurisdiction.

Shikha’s sister Anjali and her fiancee Somesh Chauhan were taken into police custody after a police complaint was filed by the victim’s husband Lalit Verma, who owns a Jewellery shop in the city.

Verma told media persons that there was a dispute among Shikha’s sisters over the compensation amount of Rs 45 lakh and a job offer that they had received after the death of her father and the matter was pending in the court.

An FIR was registered under IPC section 302 (murder) against the duo.
