A Dublin Sinn Fein TD with underlying conditions has been “quite ill” with Covid-19 despite being fully vaccinated.
Mark Ward began experiencing Covid symptoms on Saturday night before getting a test on Sunday.
He received a positive result on Monday.
He said: “I have been quite sick despite having the two vaccines.
“I'm very grateful and lucky that I have received the two vaccines because I’ve a couple of underlying conditions and I would've been much, much worse without them.”
The Dublin Mid-West TD took to Twitter to say that he’s not “recovering as quickly as I’d like” so he’s “going to do what I'm told for once and take some time off to recover”.
He said: “I’ve been trying to work from home since but it’s taken its toll on me a bit.
“Hopefully I’ll be back to myself by next week but in the meantime take care, mind yourselves and I’ll talk to you soon.
