Sam Strong directs a stage adaptation of James M Cain’s 1940s sensational thriller Double Indemnity. The steamy tale of murder and desire was famously adapted for a film noir audience in 1944. Adapted this time by playwright Tom Holloway, the novel comes to life again with spot–on dialogue, the classic femme fatale and an almost perfect crime.
Insurance agent Walter Huff has been around the business long enough to smell out a scam. When Phyllis Nirdlinger walks into the office to discuss her husband’s insurance, he senses trouble. But she’s very persuasive. Can’t a wife fix a little security for herself?
