In Colorado Springs, an urgent investigation is ongoing following the tragic discovery of a double homicide at the University of Colorado. Two individuals, a man and a woman, were found shot and deceased in a dorm room on campus. The official cause of death is still under investigation by the local authorities.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that they are treating this incident as a double homicide and not a murder-suicide. Despite withholding specific details at this early stage, the police have assured the community that there is no immediate threat to safety. They have stated that the shooting was an isolated incident involving individuals known to each other, and it was not a random attack targeting the university or its students.

The victims have been identified as a 26-year-old woman from Pueblo, Colorado, and a 24-year-old man from Parker, Colorado. The female victim was not a student at the university, while the male victim was a senior studying music. He was described as a talented and beloved member of the visual and performing arts department by the school chancellor.

Victims identified as Sealy Rain Montgomery and Sam Knop.

The tragic events unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning when reports of gunfire in the dormitory prompted a swift response from university police. The campus was placed on lockdown for approximately 90 minutes as authorities investigated the scene and secured the area.

Following the incident, classes were canceled on Friday, and the campus remained closed over the weekend. Grief counselors have been made available on-site for students to seek support and process the emotionally challenging situation.

As the investigation into this double homicide continues, the community is left with more questions than answers. The authorities are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event and bring justice to the victims and their families.
