Double funeral to be held for tragic Limerick dad Vincent Rossi and son Sully who perished in Offaly crash

A heartbroken family will hold a double funeral next week for a tragic young dad and son who died in a horrific crash.

Dad-of-four Vincent Rossi, 29, and his five-year-old son Sully, perished when their car collided with a lorry near Tullamore, Co Offaly, on Monday.

Two of his other children were injured in the accident.

Daughter Hayley, nine, was seriously injured after the cras h and was taken to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.

And son Daniel, eight, was rushed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, with non life-threatening injuries.

Mr Rossi was originally from Limerick but had been living in Portlaoise, Co Laois.

A funeral notice on RIP.ie reads: "Survived by his loving partner Libby, and Sully's mam Tina, children Hayley, Dan and Charli-Mae, their heartbroken families, Mary Heavin, Catherine Morrisey, Amy, Laura, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, many friends in Portlaoise and Ballinacourty, Killfinane."

A wake will be held at Keegan's Funeral Home, Portlaoise from 5pm on Monday evening with rosary at 7pm.

The funeral will take place in Ss Peter and Paul’s Church in Portlaoise, on Tuesday at 12pm followed by burial in Ss Peter and Paul's Cemetery.

A GoFundMe appeal launched to help the grieving family cover funeral costs and support Vincent's suriving children has been flooded with donations from kind members of the public.

A message on the page reads: "As many of you know, Vincent and Sully tragically lost their lives this week in an accident with Hayley and Daniel.



"We would would like to ease the pressure on their family by asking for donations towards giving them the best possible send off that they so truly deserve. 

"The money will also go towards any help and support that Hayley and Daniel will need in the future.

"Every donation is really appreciated and a share if you have time."

The crowdfunding page raised a staggering €24, 257 in just 24 hours, smashing its target of €15,000.
