Double fitness boost as Liverpool handed future glimpse after January departures with disgusting win

Here's your Liverpool Morning Digest for Friday October 29.

Naby Keita and Thiago - Liverpool injury news and latest return dates

Jurgen Klopp has two players back from injury as Liverpool look to continue their unbeaten run.

The Reds dismantled Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, which is their biggest win at the stadium for more than 100 years, and reached the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 against Preston.

Next up is Brighton at Anfield on Saturday.

Here is the latest Liverpool injuries and when they could return.

Naby Keita

After being on the receiving end of a red card challenge from Paul Pogba, Naby Keita was stretchered off the pitch at Old Trafford midway through the second half.

Pep Lijnders told Liverpoolfc.com before the Preston game: “Naby has a bruise in this moment, we assess it day by day. It’s looking good, so that’s good."

Liverpool fans will be delighted to see Keita return to training on Thursday with Klopp likely to give an update on his availability for Brighton during his press conference on Friday.

Thiago Alcantara

The Liverpool midfielder suffered a calf injury during the Premier League win over Crystal Palace on September 18.

Since then Thiago has missed eight matches ahead of the Brighton game.

The Spaniard has been stepping up his recovery in recent weeks and was pictured in full first-team training on Thursday.

Again, Klopp should give a full update on his condition during Friday's press conference.

Liverpool handed future glimpse after January departures with 'disgusting' win

If it’s not Anfield, then it must be Takumi Minamino.

The Japan international continues to find the Carabao Cup to his liking as he offered a timely reminder of his qualities to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

In doing so, Minamino also helped a spluttering shadow Reds sidestep a sizeable banana skin and take a sizeable stride towards Wembley.

The forward now has seven goals for Liverpool, all of them away from home.

No player has ever before netted so many times for the Reds without any coming at Anfield.

And his strike shortly after the hour finally sparked the visitors into life here at Deepdale after they had previously struggled dismally in the face of an obdurate Preston North End, currently 19th in the Championship.

Indeed, if Klopp thought Liverpool’s win at Atletico Madrid last week was “dirty”, then this latest triumph was positively disgusting.

The Reds – fielding a completely different starting XI – were again without their key forwards in the competition, Diogo Jota kept on the bench with the rest staying at home.

It gave Liverpool a glimpse of what might come in January when Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are both expected to depart for Africa Cup of Nations duty.
