The sun appears to shimmer both above and below Mt. Fuji while reflected on the surface of Tanukiko lake in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Thursday morning. The phenomenon of the sun appearing to rise or set directly atop Mt. Fuji is known as "Diamond Fuji." When the spectacular moment occurred at around 6 a.m., about 150 tourists and others who gathered around the lakeside raised a cheer and took photos. The phenomenon can be observed at the lake around April 20 and Aug. 20.
