Double-decker London bus smashes into front garden of home in Streatham

A double-decker bus smashed into the front of a south London home on Boxing Day.

The driver of the 118 service to Brixton lost control and crashed through a fence and into the garden of the house at about 9pm on Wednesday.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene in Streatham Vale and the road was cordoned off in both directions.

Images posted on social media show damage to property and cars while debris can also be seen in the street.

There were no reports of any serious injuries, Scotland Yard said.

A spokesman added that no arrests had been made.

Claire Mann, director of bus operations at TfL, said: “Following an incident last night where a route 118 bus was involved in a collision in Streatham Vale, we are relieved that nobody was seriously injured.

"We are working with the operator Go Ahead to urgently investigate the circumstances.”
