Double-decker bus roof ripped off after colliding with railway bridge in Fauldhouse

A bus roof was ripped off after it got trapped underneath a railway bridge in West Lothian .

The double decker Lothian Country vehicle smashed into the bridge on Shotts Road, Fauldhouse, at around 11.15am this morning.

The bus was ripped apart by the collision, with the roof stuck horizontally to the back of the bridge.

Emergency services are currently on the scene, with with the road closed at Springhill and Leadloch Road.

The driver is believed to be uninjured and there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.

Engineers have been called out to examine the extent to the damage caused to the bridge.

A spokesperson for Lothian Country said: “We can confirm one of our vehicles was involved in an incident earlier today in the Fauldhouse area and we are fully assisting Police Scotland with their enquiries.”
