Double-decker bus ploughs into Edinburgh building in early morning horror crash

Emergency services have raced to a bus crash in Edinburgh this morning.

Shocking images show a Lothian double-decker bus having ploughed into a building in South East Circus on Monday morning.

The smash, in the Stockbridge area of the city, took place just before 7am.

Police and fire crews can be spotted on the scene trying to make the area safe.

The road has been closed as a precaution with traffic diverted away.

Police confirmed there are no reports of any injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: "Police were called to South East Circus Place in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh at around 6.55am on Monday, 27 July, following a crash involving a double-decker bus.

"The road is currently closed at the Howe Street junction and there are no reports of any injuries."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman confirmed that fire crews are in attendance and that 'no persons were involved.'

A spokesman for Lothian Buses told the Record: “We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in an incident this morning and we are assisting Police Scotland with their enquiries.”
