Double death at Scots Airbnb cottage not being treated suspicious by police

The deaths of two people at an Airbnb cottage in Aberdeenshire are not being treated as suspicious.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the property in the Rickerton area on the outskirts of Stonehaven on Thursday at around 1.30pm.

The bodies of a 28-year-old man and a woman, aged 24, were discovered inside.

Their next of kin have been informed.

Cops will remain on the scene as a probe into the deaths is carried out.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Detective Inspector Sam Buchan said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man and woman who have sadly died. Officers remain at the property and I would like to thank members of the community for their patience whilst our enquiries continue."
