A man completely surprised his girlfriend with a Christmas Eve marriage proposal while she was hard at work on her busiest day of the year.
Naas native Daniel Durney showed up unannounced at Sizzers Hair Design in the Kildare town to pop the question to stylist Phil Power while she was giving a woman her Christmas trim.
And the salon erupted in joy as Phil said yes!
"It feels good, yeah, it was a surprise anyway!" Phil told Dublin Live.
"I didn’t have a clue about it, it was a surprise now!"
Phil said Daniel - who she has been seeing for the last three years - hatched the plan months ago - and even had a helping hand from hr young daughter Lexie, who's just five years of age.
Thankfully, the surprise ring fit, and neither Daniel nor Lexie spoiled the surprise beforehand.
"He’s had it in the back of his mind for a few months, and the Monday before he brought my little one to get the ring and all," Phil recalled.
"She managed to keep it a secret from me and all.
"No matter how many times I tried to get it out of her she wouldn’t! She was perfect."
Phil said her and Daniel were planning for the Spring of 2024 to officially tie the knot.
And despite the recent lockdown announcement - with the salon now closed once again - Phil is grateful that she at least has some time to soak it all in.
"We’re planning now for 2024, probably around April time," she said.
"We’re happy out! I’m even glad to be off work for a few weeks!"
