'Doting dad' barber died in crash after failing to pull over for police, inquest hears

A barber died in a car crash after failing to pull over for police, an inquest opening heard.

Diyar Khoshnaw, 24, c rashed at the junction of Wellington Road North and Crossley Road, on the border between Manchester and Stockport on April 19.

Following his death, Diyar was described by his family as a doting dad who was looking forward to the future.

Diyar founded and ran Siva and Co barbers on Washway Road in Sale, Trafford, together with his brother, Siva.

He celebrated the arrival of his son, a baby boy named Aryan, in January this year with his partner of three years, Chelsea Furey.

An inquest into Mr Khoshnaw's death was formally opened at Manchester Coroners' Court on Thursday (April 6).

Senior coroner Nigel Meadows said the deceased had been formally identified by his brother Siva after the crash.

Mr Meadows confirmed that Mr Khoshnaw had crashed after failing to stop for police.

The coroner said: "I am aware this is because of Mr Khoshnaw was driving a motor vehicle that lost control and had a collision described as at the junction of Wellington Road North and Crossley Road on the outskirts of Stockport, just within the city of Manchester.

"Mr Khoshnaw had been asked to stop driving his motor vehicle by a police vehicle. I understand he continued driving and unfortunately there was a collision with a road structure."

Mr Meadows said the court required a full file from GMP's serious investigation unit and a post mortem report ahead of the next hearing.

The coroner said he expected a report from police watchdogs the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which has confirmed it is investigating the crash.

The inquest was adjourned until June 24 for an internal review to take place.
