Dortmund troll Man Utd over Jadon Sancho transfer stand-off during Europa League clash

Manchester United were trolled by Borussia Dortmund over their transfer pursuit of Jadon Sancho during Monday's Europa League clash against Copenhagen.

The transfer stand-off over Sancho continued on Monday, with Dortmund insisting the winger would be going nowhere as their deadline for the Red Devils to get a deal had passed.

United, for their part, are refusing to give up on their top summer target, despite the fact the two clubs are still around £20million apart in their respective valuations of the 20-year-old.

And as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side toiled into extra time in their Europa League quarter-final - before finally prevailing over Copenhagen thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty - Dortmund couldn't resist having a cheeky dig.

With United 's players gearing up for an extra half-hour in the Cologne heat, the Bundesliga club's social media team posted a picture of Sancho, smiling in his Dortmund kit as the team began pre-season training on Monday - and looking nothing like a player itching for a move.

The post was captioned 'You love to see it', along with a smiling emoji, and had attracted 46,000 likes and 13,000 retweets within an hour of being posted.

But it received plenty of pushback from United fans, with one tweeting: "We're still getting Sancho."

Another posted, "This tweet will not have a happy ending. Now just imagine the scenes once Sancho signs for ManUtd...", along with six crying laughing emojis.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer was asked about Sancho following United's 1-0 win over Copenhagen, which booked a semi-final spot against either Wolves or Sevilla on Sunday.

The manager was giving nothing away when asked if he still felt United could get a deal done - which does at least suggest the Red Devils don't believe their pursuit of Sancho is over.

Solskjaer said: "I can't comment on other team's players, I can't do that. You know that. I never do."

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc had earlier ruled out a switch this summer, saying: "We are planning with Sancho. He'll play for us next season.

"The decision is final. I think that answers all of the questions."
